Playroom Re-do with Blue Pencil Home

All the links and deets to the redo!

We have loved following the home organizing team from Memphis, Tennessee, Blue Pencil Home. Brooke and Katie are decluttering and repurposing masterminds and Sarah and I were trying to figure out the best way to use their gifts. It didn’t take long for me (Courtney) to “fall on the sword” and in the spirit of volunteerism offered up my crazy playroom for a repurpose. :)

If you have been following along with our Insta stories or highlights this week you have seen the whole process unfold one project at a time. Blue Pencil Home used some really cool things from IKEA and the CONTAINER STORE to complete my space and we wanted to share those with you here on the blog!

PROJECTS:

Room was painted Sherwin Williams DOVE WING before we started.

For the art wall, Brooke and Katie installed this cable from IKEA with clips to hang the boys favorite pictures on for display! With only a limited number of these clips , there’s only so many art pieces hanging your gallery!

The NERF gun peg board wall is one of my favorite things about the space. My boys love to grab a gun and head into the back yard for a neighborhood game of war. They installed four of these panels with hooks and bungee cords for all of the gun accessories, bullets and arrows!

My kiddos come in every day and go straight up the stairs to crash at the desks. It’s where all the magic happens. The drawing, the lego building and even the homework. My husband Jason even lands there to work from time to time. LOVE them and I think my boys feel a true ownership over their space. The chairs are the perfect size and roll around the floor easily!

The rolling carts that are used for art and legos are amazing! It means that the pieces and supplies are stacked and scattered all over the desks all the time! Love those!

I could have used one million of these plastic container bins from The Container Store. We out them in the rolling art carts, lego carts and I am going to place another order of them for the closet. And honestly, probably for everywhere else in my house.

We labeled the shelving for all of Dean’s toys- and yes you saw the closet - extra lego games, board games, and dress up clothes. Don’t worry, there are PLENTY of things for them to play with- just now everything has a place!!

I cannot thank these two gals enough for coming to our rescue! We LOVED the experience. It has actually caused me to go through and purge other areas of the house. Honestly I am enjoying letting it all go!

Boys loving their desks and rolling cart

These bookcases are awesome to hold the bins with all the toys!!!! I selected the striped bins from Crate and Barrel. I loved the stripe detail and the dimensions fit the shelving perfectly.

Everything got a label from Brooke and Katie, books were organized ROYGBIV, and we were done!
